MSC plans peak season surcharge from Asia

Mediterranean Shipping Co. said it will implement a peak season surcharge on cargo moving from the Far East-Asia to the United States and Canada, effective July 15.

Mediterranean Shipping Co. said it will implement a peak season surcharge on cargo moving from the Far East-Asia to the United States and Canada, effective July 15.

The increase will apply to cargo moving through ports on either the East or West coasts and intermodal cargo moving to inland destinations.

The amount of the surcharge is $320 on 20-foot containers, $400 on 40-foot containers, and $450 on high-cube, 40-foot containers. The charge will apply to standard, reefer and special equipment.
